Volunteering
Would you be interested in helping those living with dementia?
New volunteers are always welcome to bring their skills and life experience to help others. If you are interested in volunteering you would be most welcome to visit the Poppy Café. We would love to meet you and have a chat about what is involved.
All volunteers are provided with an induction programme, a Volunteers’ Handbook for guidance and support from current volunteers.
Initial and on-going training in dementia awareness, communication skills, confidentiality and safeguarding of adults is provided free of charge.
A printable Volunteer Application Form may be downloaded as a PDF.
Volunteering provides opportunities to support and make a difference to those living with dementia, their carers and families, within a safe, friendly environment.
Training Courses for Volunteers
Annual training modules are offered on ‘Understanding Dementia’ and ‘Safeguarding Adults’ to all volunteers who have recently joined H&DDS.
