The Home Visiting Service was launched in April 2015 as a natural extension of the Holt & District Dementia Support Group’s ‘Poppy Centre’ drop-in café. A need was recognised to provide some additional support for people with dementia, their carers and families: in the home environment.
Associated professional and voluntary bodies encouraged this initiative, recognising the need for a Home Service in the Holt area, and offered considerable advice and support on accomplishing this as a safe, co-ordinated and worthwhile service run on professional lines.
Grants awarded by Norfolk County Council Adult Social Workforce, the Norfolk Community Foundation (Birketts Fund) and Norfolk Carers Support, together with generous donations to the H&D DSG have provided funds for training, insurance and the basic set up.
