Dates for your diary
Poppy Café – open every Tuesday morning from 10-30 to 12.30pm
Poppy Café resumed in the Meeting Room at St. Andrew’s Church, Holt, on Tuesday 28 July and will be open every Tuesday morning from 10.30am – 12.30pm.
Careful thought has gone into opening the Café safely and, although arrangements are slightly different, everyone attending has appreciated the opportunity to meet up again. Individual activities are organised but most people enjoy the chance to chat and catch up on news.
Currently carers are given the option of leaving their loved ones at the Café and having some respite time by themselves in town.
Poppy Home Visiting resumed on 31st August
Our Home Visiting service provides additional support for people with dementia, their carers and families, in their own home environment. Throughout lockdown the volunteers provided an alternative form of support by way of telephone conversations, until it was possible to resume home visits.
Poppy PM will recommence on Thursday 8th October
Every second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 2.00 pm – 3.30 pm, our Poppy PM volunteers will be pleased to welcome you in The Meeting Room at St. Andrew’s Church, Holt, NR25 6BB.
Poppy PM offers a similar service to the Poppy Café for those living with dementia and aims to provide an opportunity for carers to leave and have time to themselves.
Clients are assessed to establish their suitability for enjoying this free service.
Our other services
We hope the reopening of Poppy Café is just the start of resuming all our services, as clearly lockdown has been a very difficult and challenging time for both our clients and their carers. This will be a step by step process to ensure that safety continues to be the underlying focus at all times but we are now on our way.
The next scheduled meetings are as follows:
- Working Committee Meeting – Monday 26th October at 2.00 p.m. in the Meeting Room
- Volunteers’ Meeting – Monday 16th November at 2.00 p.m. in the Meeting Room
If you are unable to attend, kindly let Kate know in order for your apologies to be minuted.
