On 9th September the government announced: ‘social gatherings of more than six people in England will not be allowed in law from Monday 14 September. The new rule applies to people in private homes, indoors and outdoors, and places such as pubs, restaurants, cafes and public outdoor spaces.
A full list of exemptions is to be published before the law is changed’.
The Charity’s Trustees held a meeting on Monday 14th September with a view to considering the latest restrictions. Claire then advised all volunteers of the Trustees’ decision: ‘to hold Poppy Café based on the government’s further advice about community centres which indicates that they can continue to operate as long as they are Covid-secure and that within the café, attendees keep in groups of not more than six socially distanced individuals’.
In view of this Poppy Café and Poppy Home Visiting will continue to operate as at present, although this will be dependent on any future government restrictions, and it is hoped that Poppy PM will recommence on Thursday 8th October.
